Empire Stores Sexism

I'm still bemused by a mail I received from Empire Stores yesterday. A few months ago I ordered an extra digisender from them for the bedroom. They were a good bit cheaper than anyone else I could find. Thanks for that, end of story or so you'd think.

Then yesterday I got a promo mail from them saying they'd picked out some ladies clothing especially for me and were sure I'd enjoy wearing it. I would get it free with my next order.

Well Empire Stores you can bugger off. I haven't worn women's clothes since I was an alter boy 25 years ago and I'm not about to start doing so now.

Here's the mail I sent them...

I was surprised and more than a little annoyed to receive a promotional mail today from empire stores that seems to imply that I enjoy wearing women's clothing. Now I don't care if it is delicately embroidered around the collar and sleeves and available in sizes 10-20, I don't wear ladies' kaftans. Even when they are made from ultra soft Melange Single Jersey Cotton.

So when you say you've come up with something that I'll simply love wearing or relaxing in, I'm afraid you have been wasting your time. Perhaps you meant my wife or perhaps you have been listening to scandalous and inaccurate rumours regarding my nocturnal habits. Or perhaps only women are allowed to be customers of empire and I somehow was allowed to order a piece of very reasonably priced home electronics off your web site by mistake.

In any case, you have lost a customer. Please close my account.

Yours sincerely,

Evan Welsh (ex-customer ref )

Sitemaps

I created these sites a couple of weeks ago:

Evan's blog
Twins' blog
Aberdeen FC mailing list
Evan's google pages

But as of today only the first one is showing up on google. So, this morning I've added sitemaps.

Just created basic text files with lists of urls for the googlepages sites. Neither is at all complicated.

Had a bit of a blank trying to do the same for the blogs since it doesn't look like you can upload files. A quick search on google found this useful article. Turns out it takes RSS feeds so I just submitted the atom.xml files.

Let's hope it works.
